CoolCode by MunHQ

Run coding agents as a team, not one chat window.

A desktop app that treats a piece of work as the durable thing and sessions as disposable. Roles each run on their own agent and model, every run gets its own git worktree, and everything they learn is shared.

Used daily to build everything else we ship — not publicly downloadable yet

The idea

A chat window forgets. A task doesn’t.

One agent in one session is where most tools stop: close the window and the plan, the reasoning and the half-finished work go with it. In CoolCode the unit of work sits above sessions — several sessions, with different roles and different models, pick the same task up in turn, and each one starts from what the last one actually did.

What it does

Ten things that matter more than the model you picked

Tasks

Work that outlives the session

Each task carries an acceptance checklist, a PR link, a comment thread that humans and agents both post to, an optional GitHub issue it syncs with, and a conclusion composed from the session journals when it’s done.

Roles

Every role on its own agent and model

Architect, coder, reviewer, tester, docs — plus security-auditor, debugger, spec-writer, perf-profiler, ux-critic and migrator. Each preset pins both the CLI and the model, so the architect can run on one vendor and the coder on another. Override either for a single run.

Playbooks

Sequences you can save

A playbook is an ordered set of roles. Step one starts, the rest queue, and each step sees the prior work before it begins. A planning gate can prepend a planner when the goal looks like it needs one.

Agents

Eight agents, discovered not hardcoded

Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Kilo Code, Gemini, Antigravity, Aider and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The catalogue probes this machine for what is installed and asks each CLI for its own model list — there is no curated list to go stale.

Isolation

A worktree per run, and a place to land it

Every session works in its own git worktree, so parallel agents never edit the same tree. The Land panel is the terminal state of every run: read the diff, then merge, open a PR, send it back, or discard.

History

A time machine that doesn’t need commits

File snapshots are content-addressable — zstd compressed, SHA-256 deduplicated — so you can walk a file backwards through a session that never committed anything.

Coordination

One surface every agent shares

Plans, progress, memory, messages and task comments live behind one local bridge injected into Claude, OpenCode, Kilo, Gemini and Codex alike. Agents read each other’s sessions and hand work over instead of rediscovering it.

Safety

Rails, not vibes

An approval gate with rules you can persist, a high-risk deny that cannot be overridden, a hard per-session cost limit that kills the whole process tree, and a maturity label per project that tells every agent how much rigour this codebase expects.

Voice

Speech in, no cloud

whisper.cpp is compiled in — no external binary, nothing leaves the machine. Push-to-talk or hands-free, and speech drives navigation, filters and task moves, not just dictation.

Search

Everything, including the other tools

Full-text search across transcripts, memory and decisions — and over sessions from the CLI tools you ran outside CoolCode, so old context is still reachable.

Screens

Where the work happens

  • Start — a goal composer that can ask the Mayor to break the goal into tasks
  • Workspace — one kanban board with a Tasks lens and a Sessions lens
  • Session — chat, terminal drawer, diff, live browser preview, and a canvas for diagrams
  • Bakeoff — N agents racing the same task side by side
  • Review — several agents reviewing one change or PR
  • Stream — a capture layout for broadcasting a run
Shapes

Five ways in, one database

  • Desktop app — macOS, Windows, Linux
  • TUI — the same data in a terminal
  • CLI — cc, for scripts and hooks
  • Daemon — an HTTP API for headless runs
  • MCP server — so an agent can drive CoolCode itself
